intertwined phenomena part III: holobiont

residency and solo-exhibition at landhuis oud amelisweerd, utrecht, netherlands

Amidst the beautiful wallpapers in Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd, multiple organisms have gathered. They have come together to witness the ultimate merge between man and nature. A new ecosystem has formed, capable of support lifeforms of all different kinds.

After a residency of three months in Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd, we produced our most ambitious sculpture to date. Measuring almost four metres tall, it embodies a presence that is almost out of this world. Made from deadstock fibers, it symbolizes the final merge of human and vegetal shapes into one new organism.

This sculpture was exhibitited in Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd in november 2023. In 2024 it is showcased in trainingcenter de Baak in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

intertwined phenomena part II: symbiosis

residency and exhibition in Haute-savoie, France, 2023

An unexpected meeting between man and nature leads to the fulfillment of these sculptures. Made from handspun wool, dyed with natural colorants, these creatures embody a future in which man and nature live on a symbiotic level; one can not survive without the other.

Haute-Savoie is a region in the east of France. Home to the tallest mountain in Europe: the Mont Blanc. This kind of environment leaves a trace in each of its inhabitants and has a big influence on their day-to-day life. Nature is not to be tormented with in these mountains. Which means it needs to be respected.

With Intertwined Phenomena, Part II: Symbiosis Edo Verhoeff and Dewi Vingerling present their initiative of the self-sufficent artist; the artist that is able to manufacture all his necessary materials by himself. By combining craft and innovation. Their sculptures envision a new way of living for both the human race, and its natural environment.
